Exploring the Birds and Culture of India’s Eastern Frontier
Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram form a fascinating part of India’s eastern frontier, sharing international borders with Myanmar. Although this landscape is not part of the Himalayan mountain range in the conventional sense, it belongs to the Purvanchal mountain range, a continuation of the eastern hill systems of the Indian subcontinent.
Because of their geographical proximity to Myanmar, these eastern Indian states share many bird species and habitats with Myanmar. At a time when travelling to several parts of Myanmar may be difficult or subject to restrictions, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram provide an excellent alternative for birdwatchers interested in experiencing the birds and landscapes of the Indo-Myanmar region.
The tour combines three distinct states and their different habitats—from forested mountains and bamboo-covered slopes to grasslands and traditional villages.
